Heavy rain causes flash flood at Dollywood theme park
Storm hits popular Tennessee attraction
Visitors evacuated as waters rise
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (AP) — A strong thunderstorm caused a flash flood at Dolly Parton's theme park Dollywood in the US state of Tennessee on Wednesday, forcing the evacuation of visitors and causing damage to the park.
The storm hit the park in the early afternoon, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The rain quickly overwhelmed the park's drainage system, causing water to rise rapidly in the streets and parking lots.
Park officials evacuated all visitors and employees to safety. No injuries have been reported, but some damage to the park has been reported.
The park is currently closed while crews work to clean up the damage and make repairs. It is not yet known when the park will reopen.
