UEFA EURO 2024: Play-off Draw, Schedule, and Contenders

The Road to Germany

The UEFA EURO 2024 play-off draw has determined the final three teams to join the 20 already-qualified nations in the quadrennial football tournament. Poland, Ukraine, and Georgia emerged victorious from their respective play-off paths, earning a place in Germany next summer.

Play-off Draw Details

The draw took place on Thursday, March 23rd, at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The 12 participating teams were divided into three groups, with the top-ranked team in each group automatically qualifying for the tournament. The remaining nine teams were drawn into three play-off paths, where they competed in single-leg semifinals and finals for the final three qualifying berths.

The draw results were as follows:

  • Path A: Poland, Iceland, Albania, Hungary
  • Path B: Ukraine, Austria, Norway, Ireland
  • Path C: Georgia, North Macedonia, Turkey, Slovenia

Tournament Schedule

UEFA EURO 2024 will take place from June 14th to July 14th, 2024. The tournament will feature 51 matches played in 10 different stadiums across Germany. The opening match will be played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on June 14th, between hosts Germany and a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

Remaining Contenders

With the play-off draw complete, the 23 teams that will compete in UEFA EURO 2024 are now known. The tournament will bring together some of the best football players in the world, and the competition is expected to be fierce. The defending champions, Italy, will be aiming to retain their title, but they will face stiff competition from other top teams such as England, France, Spain, and Germany.
